This one is becoming more and more urgent for us, as we see a lot of Beanstalk implementations lately.

At start it should not be very fancy. For example, just a check on Environment Health of each Beanstalk environment would be a very big help. 

Basically it's just a Cloudwatch Metric in the AWS/ElasticBeanstalk namespace, called EnvironmentHealth. If that value is above 15, something is wrong and an alert needs to be sent.

Or even a way to create custom Cloudwatch metrics based monitors would be a start.

  AWS Beanstalk monitoring is in our roadmap and high on this list, we will take it up once the current set of development is over.

We have AWS Beanstalk in the next set of items to be taken up. We have a set of releases lined up-  Lambda with some cool logs capture feature, S3 Buckets and Elastic Cache( Redis , Memcached). 

We did analyse BeanStalk and have an idea on how to execute this. But it would be great to know on what you are actually expecting out of AWS Beanstalk!!!

It depends on how you want to go about it. There's two options, one generic and one Beanstalk specific.

One option is to allow site24x7 to use (custom) Cloudwatch metrics and alert on them. This would allow us to monitor pretty much anything if there isn't support for it natively in site24x7. In my opinion this is something you should have regardless.

Second option is native support for Beanstalk and allow us to monitor environment health. Basic health monitoring is a must: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/elasticbeanstalk/latest/dg/using-features.healthstatus.html.

With respect to the first option, just to give a hint on whats ahead , we are currently in the design phase of Custom Metrics monitoring for CloudWatch metrics. First stage of Custom Metric Monitoring - metric level monitoring is under review currently and we may come up with a release pretty soon. Using that , you can use your own scripts to push data to Site24x7 instead of CloudWatch. We will keep you updated about the same!!

With respect to the second option, I can understand that you need the environment health metric for knowing the overall application status. We will see how we can get this through asap.
