Scheduled Maintenance on Aug 31, 2013
Keeping up with the tremendous growth Zoho Corp. (the company behind Site24x7) has had~means we need to scale up our infrastructure periodically.
As part of this, we are planning one such infrastructure upgrade in our primary data center on~Saturday, Aug 31, 2013 between 10 am PDT and 10 pm PDT. We have planned it in such a way that there is minimal disruption of service during the scheduled maintenance period. If you recollect, our operation early this week was a prelude to this activity.
During this period, there will be two short outages lasting two to eight minutes. This is because~during the above mentioned maintenance period, we will switch Site24x7 services to our secondary data center to prevent any major outage.
Our web client application servers will have minimum outage while we expect some schedule delays (~10 mins) in our data collector servers during this period.
We will provide updates in this blog post and in Zoho blogs. Please get in touch with us for any clarifications.
Update : Sep 2, 4:30 AM PDT
As of now all our services are running normal and running from our main data center.
Sequence of events: We switched to our secondary data center on Aug 30 and suffered an outage from~Aug 30, 2013 2:57 AM to~Aug 30, 2013 3::19 AM. (~21 minutes).
Our infrastructure in the main data center has been upgraded successfully.
Sep 2, 3:13 AM to~Sep 2, 3:25 AM ~(<12 minutes): We had minimum outage during this period when we ~shifted back to the main data center. The outage varies from 2 minutes to 12 minutes. All schedules and functionality seem to be in normal condition.
We have new learnings post this operation and we will be rolling them in to our operations through the next few months.
