The tool will then perform a DNS lookup of the domain's current IP address and DNS record information against multiple nameservers located in different parts of the world.
DNS propagation is the amount of time it takes for a domain's nameserver to get updated or the amount of time it takes for ISPs around the world to update their caches with the new DNS information of a domain. DNS propagation usually takes between 24-48 hours but it can also be as high as 72 hours if the domain is hosted in a geographically far off region.
