VMware Datastore Monitor

What is a VMware datastore monitor?

A datastore is a manageable virtual storage entity created by VMware ESX/ESXi hosts, usually used as a repository for virtual machine files including log files, scripts, configuration files, virtual disks, and so on.

Why monitor VMware datastores?

By monitoring datastores, you can view the storage of virtual machines as well as gain insight on any latencies that may exist.

Is anything required to monitor VMware datastores?

Yes, an On-Premises Poller with version 3.1.9 and above is mandatory to monitor datastores. You should also enable a few privileges in your vSphere client.

How do I get started?

How do I add a VMware datastore monitor?

You can add a VMware datastore monitor while adding a VMware ESX/ESXi monitor. You can also add it to an existing monitor.

How is my VMware datastore monitored?

The performance of VMware datastores is monitored based on a set of key attributes in the form of graphs.

What else can I do?

You can configure thresholds and receive notifications when key datastore metrics are breached.

Licensing
